David Hockney Drawing from Life

David Hockney: Drawing from Life is the National Portrait Gallery's 5-star Autumn exhibition. The show was supposed to be held in the prestigious London gallery in 2020, but was closed early and postponed due to covid.
Finally here - the exhibition features portraits of five sitters; the artist's mother, Celia Birtwell (long-time 'muse' of Hockney), Maurice Payne, Gregory Evans, and the artist himself. These intimate portraits were variously painted, drawn and sketched over the past six decades, and pay homage to these special relationships.
The exhibition also debuts thirty recent portraits from life, of visitors to Hockney's studio over the past couple of years, including the much publicised Harry Styles portrait. The often gentle lightness of touch, and use of space is a joy to behold.
Open until January 21st 2023 - book your tickets here
