Carolyn Denham in RyeZine
Share
Carolyn Denham founded Merchant and Mills in 2010 with a vision to encourage sewing and a connection to what we wear, by providing the patterns, fabrics and tools for customers to make their own garments. Offering, as she says 'a viable, wearable alternative to the increasingly indistinguishable options of the high street,' a sentiment we concur with - opting out of the fast fashion frenzy in favour of timeless appeal.
Based in a warehouse in Rye, there is a shop with a mezzanine floor for sewing classes, and a project in the works to create a Merchant and Mills house for people to look around for inspiration, so they can make curtains, bed spread or blinds as well as clothing!
We recommend reading the full interview with Carolyn on RyeZine, it's really interesting, and you can find out more about Merchant and Mills here.
