Our favourite gin palace

The Ten Bells in Spitalfields! This shabby, wreck of a pub is one of London’s most intriguing, making us think of cobbled streets and gas lamps. Intrinsically linked to Jack The Ripper and his victims (it was their local, and also TN29s’Great Grandma’s too), its one of those fascinatingly macabre little reminder of a squalid, Hogarthian London that we never saw (phew!). The interior décor may or may not be authentic 19th century (the staff say it is, but it allegedly was refurbished in the 1970s, boo!) but the exterior is straight out of a Tim Burton film.
A lovely little place for a tot of gin!
