To celebrate London Design Week, and in conjunction with The Wapping Project's 'Design is simply complex' exhibition, the following talks will take place in the Wapping Project bookshop.
Monday 21st - Vicky Richardson. Described by The Observer newspaper as the 'design bible', Blueprint is one of the leading magazines on architecture and design and its Editor, Vicky Richardson is one of the most influential editors of her generation, central to shaping our attitudes on international design.
Tuesday 22nd - Paul Priestman. World renowned product designer Paul Priestman is the founding director of the Priestman Goode agency and has shaped the world around us, from the interior of Virgin trains to seats for the Airbus. Paul will be discussing how UK designers can compete in an increasingly sophisticated global marketplace.
Wednesday 23rd - Tracey Neuls. Tracey is the award-winning Canadian designer behind the inventive TN_29 footwear label. Since graduating from Cordwainer's she has established a reputation for innovative shoe making, crafting ground-breaking footwear that is full of hidden details.
Thursday 24th - Ally Capellino. A true British wonder in the world of accessories. Ally's studio produces two seasonal bag collections for men and women annually and still makes time for exciting collaborations with the likes of Apple Inc and the Tate Modern. It will be a real treat to listen to this major designer.
The talks are very intimate and offer a unique opportunity to engage with the speaker and propose any questions you may have. Talks start at 7.30pm and booking in advance is essential by emailing lydia.fulton@mac.com. Tickets are £5 per person (£4 for Wapping members), payable on the evening. This fee is redeemable back against any purchase made in the bookshop that night. Wapping Project members receive a 10% discount off books.
