East End Promise

October 19, 2010

Project space 28 Redchurch Street E2
On until the 24th October

The Private View of ‘East End Promise’ had a great feeling to it. The atmosphere was charged, lively and real noisy with reunions and trips down memory lane for some. You could tell it was a nostalgic evening for many people, looking at all the personal archives documenting the explosion of artistic and cultural activity in London ’s East End between 1985 and 2000. Even though looking at other people’s photos of them having fun, showing off their own personal histories can sometimes be a bit boring, this exhibition does not have that affect. It is a worthy exploration curated in such a great way, filled with nostalgia and pride it really paints a picture of this significant movement.
