Marina Abramović at The Royal Academy

Marina Abramović has landed in London with a must-see exhibition at The Royal Academy.
Hers is an art of performance, interaction and movement as she invites the viewer to become a part of the installation. Crossing mediums of film, performance and sculpture, Marina pushes her own boundaries which in turn draws us in to question our own. As the audience, you become part of the art.
Some of her most notable works were performed alongside her longtime companion Ulay. Rest Energy is four minutes long and sees the two balance on either side of a drawn bow with an arrow aimed at Abramović's heart.
The Serbian artist has been active for over four decades with her first performance taking place in 1973. At the age of 76, Marina continues to be a prominent and controversial figure in the art world. She founded the Marina Abramović Institute in 2007, a performance art organisation that travels internationally.
This is a unique opportunity to see some of her most iconic works re-staged and even performed by a new cohort of performance artists.
Tracey visited the exhibition, accompanied by a pair of our Irenie boots. We like to think of our shoes as works of art in their own right and invite you to create your own performances wearing a pair.
The exhibition is on until January 1st so make sure to visit before the year is out!
